Filmmaker Marc Isaacs Mini-Season: 'One Stop Doc' Workshop@Picturehouse, London

Organized in partnership with Hackney Picturehouse and One Stop Doc/Moving Worlds @ Counterpoints Arts.

A Marc Isaacs' mini-season screening Lift, Calais: The Last Border, All White in Barking and The Road: A Story of Life and Death, together with a workshop led by Isaacs at Hackney Picture House, London, 26 -27 October 2013.

‘Isaacs has an astounding gift for getting people to open up to him and he uses film the way a very skilled artist uses paint. The result is beautiful, heartbreaking and profoundly humane'. Times Online.

Whether engaging with quiet dramas of multiculture within a high rise in Lift; the perils and banalities of border-crossing in Calais: The Last Border; everyday racism and belonging in All White in Barking; or chronicling migrant lives in the city in The Road: A Story of Life and Death, Isaacs' documentary stories offer unique, immersive and intimate observations of people and places. His films are always moving, often challenging and never didactic. Join us for this mini-season of Isaacs' work together with a One Stop Doc workshop titled ‘Out of Place'.

Workshop topics include:
• Challenges of creative documentary in capturing the significance of places and identities transformed through migration
• Casting for place, building relationships, establishing trust
• Storytelling - drawing from fiction, setting up scenes and ethical questions
• Editing as a collaborative process - inviting audiences to co-construct narrative
Workshop ticket includes all screenings. Please retain your ticket for access.
Screenings may also be booked separately.
